With 12 successful White Christmas Dip's at Boscombe Pier under our belts, we’re always looking for ways that we can improve the experience each year. We’re so lucky that our event always generates so much interest on Christmas Day morning with Dippers and spectators galore, but we can’t turn a blind eye to the lack of parking on the sea front that escalates from around 10 am into a bit of a mad rush with last minute sign ups and spectators.
I want to take this opportunity to share with you the proposed changes for this year, to keep you up to date with Christmas (dare I say it – fast approaching!). Historically we've asked for a minimum donation of £5.00 per dipper, which goes directly to Macmillan Caring Locally. We’re conscious that with many families and groups now taking part together, the cost of this can easily escalate to £20+. This year we’ll be trailing an open donation system and relying on your generosity to choose your own amount that you’d like to donate to the cause, with a recommendation message of £10 per person, to give those who are Dipping for the first time a guide. We are so grateful for every donation and hope this greater flexibility will benefit all. This will be a test that we’ll run for this year and we will let you know how successful this has been.
In other news, we're also looking at bringing our mascot, ‘Dippy’ to life! Please look out for him during December as he’ll be out and about to entice new Dippers to join in the fun and do something just a little bit crazy this Christmas! Stay tuned for further details..
I’m pleased to announced that our website has also had a bit of a makeover too, bringing it more up to date. Special thanks to Mike at Cracking Media for this who has been with us every step of the way. We couldn’t do it without you!
Don't forget, it's not too early to sign up now!
